Ways Your Non-Retail Business Can Participate in Black Friday

Black Friday is one of the most popular shopping days of the year for retail and e-commerce businesses. A recent survey estimates that adults in the US will spend a total of $148.5 billion on Black Friday and Cyber Monday this year. However, just because you don’t sell consumer goods doesn’t mean that you can’t drum up business with some great deals. Here are a few ideas on what you can offer up this Black Friday.

  • Offer free estimates. When you are trying to run a profitable business, you usually do not want to give anything away for free. However, doing something simple like offering free estimates can pay off in the long run. It can set you apart from your competitors and allow you to pitch your services in person (socially distanced, of course).
  • Bundle your products or services. Customers love getting more for less. By bundling products or services and marking down the price, you can make more money than you usually would despite the discount. Frugal customers often will spend more if they feel like they’re saving more money in the long run.
  • Share your expertise. Sometimes consumers have questions or concerns but are not necessarily looking to hire a business straight away. Hosting an Ask Me Anything (AMA) or offering phone consultations can be a way to share your knowledge, help out consumers, and drum up future business. Sometimes building relationships early can earn you money down the line!
  • Give existing customers a discount. Marketing your services to previous customers can be a safe bet. If they have bought from you once before, they are more likely to do it again. You’d be surprised by how much business you can generate by giving previous customers an incentive to buy your product or service.
Remember, even a slight discount can attract customers. While you may be apprehensive to lower prices, the price does not cheapen your product or service. If anything, it allows you to get new customers through the door and show them why your business is worth spending full price on in the future.
