About the Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics

Our mission is to create an ethical marketplace where buyers and sellers can trust each other. One of the ways we do this is by recognizing marketplace role models. 


Better Business Bureau’s annual Torch Awards for Ethics honor organizations and individuals that demonstrate excellence in the marketplace, a higher level of character and a commitment to community. Selection is made from a variety of applications from the Southeast Texas region by a team of judges. 

Recipients recognized under our Torch program:
  • Torch Awards For Profit: Large, Medium and Small
  • Spark Award, a Torch Award for Millennial Entrepreneurs
  • Student of Integrity Scholarship Program

Meet the 2020 and Past Torch Awards for Ethics Winners


Criteria

Torch:
The criteria for this award is based on community involvement and Better Business Bureau’s core values: excellence, integrity, teamwork, trust, respect and community involvement.

Spark:
This award is given to business leaders (35 years and younger) that demonstrate a higher level of character, generating a culture that is authentic about its mission, and connect with community


Student of Integrity:
The scholarship program awards seniors in high school who personify high ethics demonstrated through leadership, overall personal integrity, and academic history a $2500 scholarship.


*All applications are judged by voluntary, independent panel of judges. 



In lieu of 2020’s dinner and in-person fundraising event, BBB celebrated Torch throughout the month of August with a series of recognitions, presentations, and an online auction. Most of the celebration took place on our Facebook page.
